Even more than Fry and Laurie themselves, I've fallen in deep love with Jeeves and Wooster. I'll speak on the actual characters and series on its own page, so I'll focus solely on the 90's sitcom here!

I'd be remiss to claim the series doesn't have its issues. It unfortunately suffers from some dreadfully unnecessary blackface, and there's critiques to be made about its handling of adaptation-- regardless, I can foster nothing but love and adoration for the TV show.

Laurie is a PERFECT Bertie Wooster. He uncannily resembles Bertie's "loony sheep" mystique and willowy form. He pulls expressions of disbelief that entirely capture Bertie's commentary from the page.

The show's Jeeves is much moreso a result of Fry's personal flair. Whereas the books describe Jeeves as a nebulous, reserved and stoic figure, the show plays up Jeeves' sass and judgement. Whilst not a quality entirely absent in the novels, Fry's Jeeves is an unambigious diva. I'd be lying if I said I disagree with his choices.

A bang up job was done in crafting each episode's plots, often stringing together multiple short stories to create one-hour episodes. It's typically easy to identify the seam between two stories, but I'm never discouraged by that fact! Many episodes are able to find a through-line, and satisfyingly tie each conflict into a bow by the end of the hour.

Fry and Laurie's chemistry does wonders for selling the companionship of Bertie and Jeeves. The show is comforting, funny, and endearing. I'll recommend it for as long as I live!
